All Arizona State grads come out with a CFII and most have/had over 1000 hrs before being hired. Perhaps you are confusing ASU with san juan college grads?
Mesa has literally hundreds who have made it a career. Low 100k (20 year scale!) may not be what you or I consider 'career' pay, but for them it is. Like you condescendingly say in your post - perspective is key (kids?).
