Emirates can't fly point to point. SkyWest Inc can just as Republic can. I'm pretty sure with the sort of cash getting tossed around, they can find their way. They wouldn't' need to buy their way in. Flying under Emirates' colors or Ethiad's..... Certainly not easy but plausible.
Didn't JetBlue almost go out of business until Lufthansa made a large investment into JetBlue? Looks like cash has been getting tossed around already.
