People have some great advice, like cutting out junk food, red meat, etc.

All at once though it can become at bit overwhelming. I think a good start would be to cut out soda all together. Its loaded with high fructose corn syrup and the diet alternative contains aspartame which is basically a poison and has been linked to cancer.

Dump soda for water and you'll be doing yourself a big favor.
