I lost 20 pounds a couple years ago by running 3-4 miles 3 times a week and counting calories using the FatSecret Calorie Counter. I too ate whatever I wanted, just not as much. Instead of just pouring a bowl of cereal, I would measure out one serving. That kind of thing.

I've maintained the weight by continuing to run which lets me eat how I want for the most part.

I have a good amount of down time being a corporate pilot, so it's easier for me to get the exercise in. If I go to an FBO that has a shower I'll bring clothes and run while the passengers are at their meetings.
