Agree that's how it
should be... but the ATP is a stated requirement for many airlines, and a de facto requirement for most other airlines, just to get the interview. I'd be surprised if even the companies who don't require it (formally or informally) didn't use the ATP as a filter for whom they call first....
Gotta get the interview to get the job. Gotta get the job to get the sim to get the ATP....
