The issue is the complete lack of leadership by multiple MEC Administrations. Show me one DALPA communication over the past 10 years where DALPA made a strong case, or any case at all, for restoration. It just doesn't exist. If you can find one, please post it.
It feels like 60% of another forum was dedicated to debates about whether the representatives are leading opinion enough. Which is another reason they shouldn't have closed it: the specialists could continue to specialize there.
On this site, you have the L&g, which is pretty good-natured, and people who want to specialize in anything but underboob usually spin off specific issues into their own threads.
If you're interest in a good, heartfelt discussion about whether ALPA should lead or follow the group in terms of objectives, I'm sure there are plenty of people that would love to have the debate. If you want to have it in the broader context of representation issues, that thread already exists.
