Lets elaborate here a bit. This is a Hawaii only rule. On the mainland, which is 96% of the Mesa operation, its just like any other regional you can have water or soda or coffee, for free.

Go! operates as an 100% fee for anything operation. They make the passengers pay to check even one bag, change tickets, any sort of beverage on the aircraft costs money. Therefore the flight attendants have to keep a tight inventory of the beverages and snacks, that paperwork is turned in at the destination. i.e. Leave HNL with 10 cokes and arrive with 5 in KOA, there better be $ turned in for those 5 missing drinks.

Maybe you can knock Management for this but I really can't. They're trying to run a lean business out there. One free water per 20min leg was plenty for me. Your sweating enough out there you don't need to be drinking soda anyway.

They will steal your vacation pay, and then fight you over it. They offer less vacation weeks to bid and if you don't get your bid they will not cash out or let you bank your vacation. Every month make sure you keep track of your Per Diem and Flight pay because they will short you on your paycheck and then when you call them on it they just say sorry it must have been a mistake.
I have yet to see this. I keep track of my per diem and block and I've yet to have any pay problems. I DID have this problem all the time at Republic. Republic used an excel spreadsheet to keep track of pilot pay.

I know a case of a pilot calling to get released when his wife called him and said her mother was dying, they called the company and the company said that they could not know for sure that she was dying and they could not release them. There was another IAD Captain whose father passed away while he was on a trip and when he called the company to get released, crew tracking told him he had to finish the trip because they didn't have another captain to cover it.
This sounds like a lot of hearsay.

Maybe in the old Mesa days sure. AI and CC are good guys. I guarantee you, if someone called them with these type of issues today they would be released. If my father was dying, I would not be calling Crew Tracking to get released. They aren't my managers, I would be calling a Chief Pilot. And like I said, in those situations I guarantee those guys are going to take care of you.

They will be putting you up in hotels that are the cheapest they can find. They tend to be dirty and nasty and not in the safest areas. If you decide to work for Mesa more power to you, but keep in mind what type of company you will be working for.
Our hotels are no better or worse than any hotels I've stayed at at my prior regional. Maybe I am not picky enough, but I've never feared for my safety at any of our hotels. I've never found the rooms to be dirty as you described. Are they 4 star hotels? No probably not, well except for the King Kam in Kona.

I'm not trying to pick a fight, we're all on the same team.

I'm just not sure if that was 100% fair and honest information for a perspective new hire to read.
