I have flown with 2 777 capts that were each below 50 when their pensions were terminated. They couldn't take a lump sum, they were too young so, they didn't have that choice. They each got what roughly any other 48 year old got in their claim and note despite each having 25 years of service then. They weren't cared for by ALPA or the pbgc due to their ages. Lee Moak, who was older, but with less service got more money. FOs who were older with less service got more PBGC and in some cases more claim and note money.
They are young and senior, but they got bent over. It doesn't matter if they can make it up...That is not the point.
What does that have to do with my post ? And excuse me if I don't cry for those 2 777 Capts who will make over 300k for 17 years. I would gladly give up my note and PBGC for an extra 10 years at the top of the food chain. This battle will be for and about the DL pilots who have the majority of their career ahead of them, they have the most to lose if the DPA wins and then can't produce.
I do agree that ALPA withheld information when those of us that did have a choice had to decide. They, ALPA ,made mistakes but I'll take a proven commodity over a pie in the sky, distort the truth group any day.
