This is a giant revision of events.
We can thank UAL for negotiating that contract.
Jim Goodwin offered the pilots a 48% increase and 28% up front to get them flying again. They were desperate to restore their summer schedule that was devastated when the pilots elected to spend more time with family rather than voluntarily picking up open time.
Thus, the pattern bargaining bar was set and DALPA topped the UAL bar by a fraction in all categories.
This was on of the reasons for the no votes as those voters thought we should have done better than a dollar or so difference in rates.
