The experience will give you more confidence going into the interview, but my opinion is that if you have better-paying alternatives, competitive military pilots should skip the regionals.
Also consider that if you cannot tolerate the regional QOL and quit, you have to satisfactorly explain that in your AA/DL/UA/SW interview, if even invited to that interview after you indicate on your resume that you've previously quit an airline pilot job.
Points taken...I do, however, feel that total time was an issue for me with just over 2k hrs (most of it non-military). The regional will surely help in that regard.
Regardless, I have made the leap and am a few weeks away from completing training. So far, I am enjoying it and will try to make the best of life "on the line." Luckily, I landed a base where I live...which is huge! Ultimately, I feel it will make me a more rounded aviator and if nothing else, another check on the app in regards to 121 time. No one knows the magic formula...And the best part is I can head back to the Herk anytime I fell the need for speed
