You really think congress is going to step in and tell the DOJ how they can handle antitrust regulation? You really think congress wants to step in and demand that legacy carriers continue the status quo to the detriment of competition (whether it be real or imagined)?
Good luck with that!
I know that DCA is an exception. These congressmen care about themselves and little else. They want nonstop service to THEIR small hometown, not more flights by small carriers to big cities already served and that desire is bipartisan.
Gary Kelly is a failure, certainly no Richard Anderson. Gary is riding a nightmare filled with powerful unions that make many times the legacy carriers non pilot workforce. Chapter 11 allowed management to move these workers to minimum wage, part time or transferred to 3rd party vendors. SWA must continue to pay these workers more and more. A 3% raise for someone on minimum wage is a lot less than a 3% raise for a SWA bag handler. The gap grows and SWA cannot compete.
SWA is on a slow downward spiral.
I'm sure you are right about the DCA slots, Delta will get none. Thanks for setting me straight.
