AirCav - there is a board meeting next June to appoint warrant officers in the USAR; both off the street first time folks and commissioned officers requesting to convert to warrant officer. I'm in a similar position as you - approaching MRD as a commissioned officer and am applying to convert to warrant officer. It is not as simple or quick and dependent on when you reach MRD, you will need an exception to an Office of the Chief of the Army Reserve (OCAR) policy. Additionally, Mother Rucker has to make a determination on what warrant officer MOS you qualify for and also whether time you've served as a commissioned officer qualifies you for a one for one year extension beyond the maximum age to be a warrant officer (age 46). My point is not to dissuade you, but to encourage you to start ASAP if it is something you are considering. AR 135-100, APPOINTMENT OF COMMISSIONED AND WARRANT OFFICERS OF THE ARMY, is the regulation that is the starting point - packet format, etc. The USAR warrant officer managers at HRC at Fort Knox are good POCs to discuss the rest of the process.
