World is truly a competitor to Omni, but not Evergreen or Southern. Time will tell about Omni's future prospects, but many posters above will confirm this: Omni management will never, ever share this info with line pilots/employees until after the hammer has fallen. Furloughs & displacements occur and union ExCo members only find out 2-3 hours prior; aircraft get grounded/returned to lessors and ExCo members find out same day. Management holds cards very close to their vest and won't divulge any info whatsoever that will allow you to make an informed to decision to start at Omni, stay at Omni or decide to leave Omni.

The summer of 2014 will be indicative of Omni's future; after Obama pulls out the remaining troops from Afghanistan, then Omni's DoD flying will only be a trickle. If they keep (8) aircraft after August, then the future prospects look good. But, there is a very realistic possibility that many Omni contracts for subservice will be with foreign airlines who need lift, with overseas TDYs. If you're junior and a new-hire, plan on being away from home for 90 days right away after training---and possibly once each year successively.
