Mesa is a "reactive" operation. There is no emphasis on staying ahead of the game. J.O. (CEO) has made it clear to the pilot group that the mere promise of a quick upgrade will bring u to his doorstep. There is no real push or incentive from upper management to do anything to get the numbers that they will need. There will certainly be no substantive budgetary amount given to anyone/anything. Hence you are seeing a major backlog of requests for contact, app status and hiring.
The company has slowed growth slightly and currently rests "fat" on captains. It is getting by with what it has on-line and currently in the pipeline. It will not "React" until some small amount or large amount of sh*t is seen hitting a fan. That's just how it's done at MAG.
There was a slow down as well due to lack of Sim space. As I have stated before, the current HR pilot team consists really of 2 guys with possible a "new hire" 3rd guy. One is mgmt. capt. and the other two are "line" f.o.'s .... Trust me, they're swamped. Mesa might get a tad bit more desperate as PSA/etc. ramp up hiring however as of right now, it's getting good numbers into class.
MAG Corp. consistently changes their staffing req. numbers. Again a complete "knee jerk" reaction to save a buck. That will eventually cost them more" long term"
