One DB a month is the norm.

I would echo the general consensus...If you have the type already, earlier interview date is better. If you don't have a type and want to wait until you hear from the DB, then it is not as big an issue. The earlier you get your type rating the better, so it's your call if you want to schedule that before you get "the call."

Be careful w/ delaying your interview date too far. I don't know the specific reasons, but a small number of candidates who interview in one month, have been pushed back to the following decision board, through no fault of their one. It seems that the People Dept isn't always able to finish up with all the interviewee packages, so they get pushed back to the next month.

I got called for an interview back in Feb, and chose a 6 Mar interview date. Had 41 days between my interview date and "the call. " I really don't know if interview dates had much to do with the delays, but if I were interviewing now, I would still lean toward an earlier date and gut out the extra couple of weeks wait. It's not that bad the first couple of weeks, since you know the DB is a ways off. Last week is the hardest--no matter how long you wait.
