For almost all airlines your class date initiates year one pay. However, newhire training pay varies by different airlines. Once you complete IOE then you go on first year pay at monthly guarantee. At the 12 month mark you'd start year two pay.

As for upgrading yes you keep your longevity. VX fixed this issue a while ago. Endeavor pilots also get longevity for upgrade.
