I am not basing my purchase solely on this alone, but it would be nice to know if I end up at a carrier that uses iPads.
Most of the regionals that do have an approved EFB are approved to use the larger iPad and not the mini.

If you do decide to buy an iPad to use as an EFB I personally suggest the latest iPad you can afford as the Jeppesen app actually sucks (I think it's just code bloat in the app itself) and doesn't run well on older iPads

Since you do have an iPad 2 use that as you already have it. All you need is around 2GB for the app. And just put up with the slow performance of the jepp app.

If you want a mini, buy one for your personal use.
