Happy New Year
Plenty of guys in all the "near in" cities that avail themselves of the layovers at home.
If you want to be based in ATL in your first year, your chances will be best if you get on the 88 or 717. The 320 in ATL also goes pretty close to the bottom of the seniority list right now, but that could change as things progress.
Someone already covered it, but to re-emphasize: you are seatlocked (in aircraft type) for one year as a new-hire. However, you can change bases, to another base that has vacancies on your aircraft, via our AE (Advanced Entitlement) process. Lately they've been running AE's every 60-90 days, and they say that should continue.
Welcome! We are all glad to have you aboard!
