Actually it's not as bad as ONT-LAX, I'd say that one is the busiest as basically the clearance is to take off and intercept the 24R localizer. More than half the time I'd jot down a time in the log of less than 10 minutes. At least out of SNA you fly out to the water, and then back to Seal Beach for the downwind, gives you a little more breathing time.
Pretty sure nobody actually buys a ticket from SNA-LAX, probably just United selling tix elsewhere with connections out of LAX. Considering SoCal traffic this makes sense, especially if you're trying to drive at peak hours.
Just got back from a LGB-CMA trip, IFR, and talk about busy! LAX traffic isn't the problem, it was all the VNY and BUR traffic within spitting distance of our PA28. LOL "Cherokee 853, turn left immdiately for traffic 1 O'clock opposite direction, same altitude." What fun that was!
By the way, I it was skybus. The reporters got it wrong on the news station b/c the story was removed from the website with "skywest". Here's a link for a skybus story.
