When I fly LASFR's to BUR, it took me about 22 minutes to hit LAX VOR from SNA. I would say with all the routing, the EMB120 does it in exactly 20 minutes. I seriously wonder why anyone would pay to fly from SNA-LAX. LOL

Its skybuss yall. There goes what’s left of our industry! Although I don’t think the pilot pay is sustainable long-term. Captains will make 65k salary. Ha Ha Ha Ha what a joke.
Also just talked with a flight instructor of Utah Valley State College, and he said they have more students than they can handle. Looks like we are making it pretty easy for all the startup's to get pilots for cheep.
Majors need to make it a point not to hire from skybuss and the like.

Pretty sure nobody actually buys a ticket from SNA-LAX, probably just United selling tix elsewhere with connections out of LAX. Considering SoCal traffic this makes sense, especially if you're trying to drive at peak hours.

I used to fly that flight all the time, talk about a busy 20 minutes. Actually it's not as bad as ONT-LAX, I'd say that one is the busiest as basically the clearance is to take off and intercept the 24R localizer. More than half the time I'd jot down a time in the log of less than 10 minutes. At least out of SNA you fly out to the water, and then back to Seal Beach for the downwind, gives you a little more breathing time.

By the way, I it was skybus. The reporters got it wrong on the news station b/c the story was removed from the website with "skywest". Here's a link for a skybus story. http://www.usatoday.com/travel/fligh...s-launch_N.htm

Is that due to student enrollment or lack of instructors?
Most flight schools can't hire/retain enough instructors with the current hiring going on at the regionals.

I paid for that flight before. It was cheaper for me to fly from DEN - LAX - SNA than it was to go DEN - LAX.
