Btw this issue could be solved if there was a way to voluntarily pick up open time for premium pay without being "involuntarily" called for a JA. Even if the company didn't want to offer premium pay for open time all the time they could post a message or flica alert stating that any open time picked up on days off for trips starting from xx/xx/14 - xx/xx/14 pays 200% or 300% or 400% etc.

A quick MOU to the cba would solve all of this. Pilots get what they want and the company gets open time covered in catastrophic situations that we all know they wouldn't staff for anyway.

If the "interpretation" was correct this should be a no brainer and a win win for both parties. Of course JA could still exist as it already does just requiring the new "interpreted" 10hrs from the phone call to show. Above MOU would also ease the situation of all the "favorites" getting all the premium pay.
