Probably a good idea would to be ask the simple question of how many interviewed/were moved into Phase II in each individual JB hiring thread. It'll give a real number to work from though it's "purely historical and no indication of future performance". (inserted disclaimer)

I think all airlines bring in those they want to hire. Why wouldn't they? Even with all the effort they put into pre-screening typical hiring rates are in the 50% range on average. They've got to see people face to face and even then they've got to apply some discriminators. To attempt to figure out a "magic formula" is impossible as every airline has it's own preferences and those preferences change as each new hiring class progresses. They all constantly adjust their target based on past successes and failures.
