Clearly I am hearing to steer away from PSA as it seems like it's the new gojet of even much worse!
But then I am also hearing oh do not go to Gojet, do not go to Eagle (too bad for a DFW based), do not go to Mesa, do not go to whiskey, do not go to Xjet (ah you know all these 50 seaters....), do not go to commutair, do not go to Horizon, do not go to endeavour, etc etc... I will not even mention Silver, GLA.
I even hear do not go to SKW ah, because I will be commuting to reserve for ever! Only one remains then: compass! And I am not competitive for compass!
So, where do I go? I guess do not go to ANY regional, they are all crap and I get that! They need to triple entry level pay. But then again where does one go to get these freaking 121 hours?
Clearly you've been spending way too much time on the Internet, and in particular these forums.
Two things you should consider: 1. Most of the people that take the time to post regularly here are the loud, disgruntled 5% that will always find something to whine and complain about, and that's not limited to just the regional forums here, and 2. Most of the rest of regional pilot, and even Major/National/LCC pilots, just don't care that much.
Here's my advice: figure out what works best for you. I can make a solid case for going to any of the above carriers you mentioned, save for Great Lakes, and maybe Silver. Your number one concern should be avoiding commuting. If you live in California and decide to go to Air Wisconsin you're just going to be a miserable SOB while all your SkyWest neighbors are just driving to work.
Additionally, some people see the regionals as a place to get in and get out, to make yourself competitive for the next step, and others feel the need to find someplace they could be happy spending a career if that were necessary. Find out where you exist on that scale and choose accordingly.
Lastly, I'll leave you with a quote from a former frequent poster on another board:
if you want to do something, and your imaginary friends on the internet are against it and you decide to outsource your decision making and well-being to a bunch of electrons that may or may not represent real people...and then you ***** about the decision that you were led to by same imaginary internet friends...then you deserve whatever bad things befall you in life.
