I'm a Navy soon-to-be-retiring with about a year to go. I've got around 1800 hours with around 1000 PIC in P-3's and T-6's. Getting my ATP in a month or so. Standard question: how competitive am I for the majors? And is a year out sufficient time to be ready? If you meet the mins for company XYZ, you're qualified. I know mil guys getting picked up at DAL, UAL and SWA with similar numbers.
Like ^^ct^^ said, you need networking. Recs, Face time with recruiters at job fairs, friends bugging their chief pilot in your favor.
