A couple notes up front- you have a 6 month window from DOS for you last move paid for by the Gov, upto the distance from Home of Record to first duty station.
Per JFTR, if you served for 8 continuous years, with no break in service greater than 90 days, you are entitled to Home of Selection. Once you have HOS on your orders, you are also entitled to 1 year of Non-temp storage, instead of the 180 days.
