VSP Confusion
Alcon,
Sorry about any re-hash I cause, as I am very late to the fight here. However, I took the VSP exactly one year ago at the end of this month. I am in the final stages of the inter-service transfer process to begin a Navy reserve gig. The initial training will take me over 180 days on orders before returning to DAL. Like most of you, the paperwork I signed and EVERY accompanying brief I recieved never mentioned any repayment outside of a reserve or Guard retirement. Not to mention, god-forbid I ever get furloughed, I had always planned on the possibility of a short stint back on active duty. It's hard to believe that this kind of thing (changing the rules post signing) would actually hold up if ever challenged in a court. If anyone has an e-mail list going on this topic I'd be happy to join, help, whatever. Thanks

Well, here I am, out here on about 4 months of ADSW orders and no pay clerks see any record of the indebtedness in my pay account. Still testing the program. We'll see if anything "magical" happens when I hit the 180 day mark. I have one sheet of paper that says I will have to pay it back after the 180 day mark, and another that says it will be drawn from my retirement pay. Who to believe?

If you don't mind - PM me some contact info so we can stay in touch on this matter. I'm getting ready to start some USN training for 8+ months and am dying to see what is going to happen after 180 days. "Toto" posted a reply on here some time ago and may have the answer - but he seems to have gone NORDO.

Silver2Gold,
Radio is working again. Here's what happened; hit the 180 day mark on ADSW orders and nothing happened. Still got paid the same. Then took a recall to active duty after 9 months of ADSW with the Navy and the orders said that if I retire I have to pay it back. Thats how it goes Navy style. Hope this helps. Good luck with the transition!

Toto,
Glad to hear your comm is working again. Thanks for your response - sounds like great news. The payback at retirement was pretty much what I had always planned for. Best of luck to you as well - Thanks again.
Cheers
