There's more to life than just money boys and girls. As a good friend says "pigs get slaughtered." Can the company afford to pay us more? Do we deserve a raise? Yes to both. However, we need to milk the turnip, not bleed it to death!
Additionally, we need to keep focused on the bigger picture. If PBS happens to sneak in the back door and is associated with a pay raise I guarantee that we will all be working harder for the money that we negotiated for. I do not know about all of you but, I like getting paid the most amount of money possible for the least amount of work performed. So, think about that when considering hourly rate. The company is ready to unleash the sodomizer on us and completely destroy our industry leading vacation system as well as wreck all quality of life as we know it. Until PBS is off the table from the company side I for one will be extremely wary of anything being reported by our negotiators.
I strongly suggest that we consider the bigger picture. An smaller increase in hourly wage accompanied by major work rule improvements. For instance - no PBS while procuring real time trip trading, improvements to dead heads i.e. accepted fare language, and thanks to the ACA, procuring our excellent health care for the foreseeable future for example.
My union speaks for me but are they listening to what I am saying?
