I don't doubt we will get to a point when they start struggling to fill classes. It just has not yet shown it's head yet. We have a great training department, good Chiefs and a ton of movement on the horizon. The word is getting out.
We have a better contract than RAH and now also have EJETS. What is that place going to use to lure new hires? They were the only EJET operator for years and used that EJET SJS to get people. (I was there if you haven't read any of my 1000 other posts comparing the two)
I'm a 2013 hire and only about 130 numbers from most junior captain.
It's unbelievable how stubbornly fickle and foolish we have become. Have we already forgotten the Mesa m.o.? This is the 4 cycle of this barnacle of a airline. They grow fast, can't manage growth, collapse on its face, file for bk, furlough, and raise money to do it again. Wash, Lather, rinse, repeat. They got booted from every contract before. everything they are doing now is set up for the same. How the heck are they gonna staff the growth with their meager pay? look at Great Lakes, rah, and express jet, which except for G.L. still have higher pay than Mesa currently. Which goes to show sjs sadly enough, still is pervasive at exploiting pilots. This is just the beginning, and no new contract J.O. will offer will beat others to attract more pilots in which most have aspirations to go to a major who will scoop up regional guys in droves as they already are. Why you went from one meager regional to another meager one in a time majors are beginning to hire is beyond me. I went from a meager regional did my time and I'm now at a major. I told myself as my former regional wasn't getting better anytime soon, that best I keep building my time here, and wait for the first wave, no way in hell I even for a sec made a lateral move to another regional. Regionals will eventually wither down to a nub from attrition as it should, cause they were the spearheads of bringing this profession down the tubes which was also spearheaded by Mesa.
A lil Mesa history, they got booted from united in the late 90's then in mid 2009. Booted from the pre AMW merger us airways. Booted from delta. All this while filing ch 11 a couple times. How you think they will be impervious to the current shortage. J.O. Will never give into leading contract, never has, never will. He will continue to make millions and bail when he wants if need be.
