Yes, at Delta, management says by signing the release you automatically agree to the two hour extension. If later the captain doesn't want to do it, he just tells the dispatcher, no problem. If the FO doesn't want to do it, he has to fatigue out. Also, in some instances the two hours actually exceeds the contractual maximum.
Fun times.
But in no way are you ever threatened with loss of pay or depenability reviews, correct?
