It has been like this for at least the last 4 years. I've been on here a couple of times trying to stop the people spreading the story that "once the bell is rung it cant be un-rung". ALPA put out a memo a long time ago addressing this. The people saying once its picked up, it no longer matters have been doing more damage than the person who mistakenly picks it up. Because then the person feels they have no option and flies it anyway. Now everyone should know, you can always get rid of a DP. No-one is ever forced to fly, we have tools at our disposal if you don't feel physically/mentally ready to fly.
