What you "witnessed with [your] own two eyes" was an exception to the rule and hardly constitutes any type of empirical data.
Whether they do or do not, I find it a waste of a good college education to be receiving credits for flying airplanes and taking aviation courses that do little to inspire intellectual thought and development.
