Apparently the pilot selection departments for UAL, Alaska, DAL, JetBlue, Eagle, ASA(XJet), SkyWest, Compass, Horizon are all "full of crap" too? They all have strong leanings toward Tier 1 AABI pt141/142 aviation program grads. Why? Because the findings of their internal studies are congruent with the studies conducted by other industry experts.

What you "witnessed with [your] own two eyes" was an exception to the rule and hardly constitutes any type of empirical data.

Whether they do or do not, I find it a waste of a good college education to be receiving credits for flying airplanes and taking aviation courses that do little to inspire intellectual thought and development.

I think there's more to it than you realize–it's not just "receiving credits for flying". The resources made available to the AABI 141 students are–in most cases–outstanding.

I don't know of many pt 61 pilots who have taken an advanced aerodynamics class or some type of advanced meteorology course. The education received at a 141 school is far more applicable than a social science degree from a community college.

Then what about people with Aerospace Engineering degrees that satisfied that degree requirement without having CFI/MEI be worth x credits?

Most lower level college courses (100-200 level) do little to inspire intellectual thought and development. They are merely ensuring the building blocks are in place for the 400 level courses and higher. Are you suggesting that we get rid of the core knowledge college courses?

And then of course there's no comparison to my experience getting a masters degree, so maybe we should get rid of undergrad college all together, because all it does is verify you can take tests?
