Default 10K sign-on bonus with American Eagle

A review of your application shows that you graduated from one of our partner aviation universities. American Eagle is offering a $10,000 bonus to new pilots who graduated from one our partner university programs and meet minimum requirements detailed below. The $10,000 bonus is contingent on a 2 year employment agreement with American Eagle. We are currently hiring into both the EMJ-140/145 and CRJ-700 aircraft. We have pilot domiciles in Dallas/Fort Worth, Chicago O’Hare, Miami, and New York’s JFK and LaGuardia airports.

We are also offering a $5,000 bonus to pilots who do not meet the requirements of the aviation university programs. Feel free to contact us for more information.


Minimums to qualify for $10,000 bonus:
-Graduate with an Aviation Bachelor Degree
-Minimum overall cumulative GPA of 2.5
-Minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0 in aviation courses
-Complete certificates at University:
>Instrument
>Commercial
>Multi-Engine

(CFII obtained at University can be substituted for Instrument requirement above)



Partner University Programs:

Embry Riddle Aeronautical University
Jacksonville University
LeTourneau University
Liberty University
Minnesota State University
Oklahoma University
San Diego Christian College
Southeastern Oklahoma University
Spartan College of Aeronautics
University of Central Missouri
University of North Dakota
Western Michigan University

I'd do it, you'll get 10k and you won't have to commit to a 2 year contract because you'll get furloughed before then. Sounds like a good deal to me.

So rather than make it a more desirable place to work, they offer what equates to a $5k/yr raise on years 1/2, that doesn't apply to all pilots.

Pathetic. And people will take it.

Hopefully ALPA puts a stop to this.

Would you ask ALPA to put a stop to it if all 1st and 2nd year FOs got a raise instead? But wait then its not fair for the 3 and 4 year guys. Where is the line? Just curious.
