Sad to see how piloting skills have become so commoditized but it's inevitable. Sad to hear that after six years a pilot there barely makes 50k.
Do they type-rate using a recognized training provider? (CAE or FSI) and is there a training contract?
I would say it's close to impossible to make 50k as an FO. Keep in mind, however, this is in a 37 seat aircraft. You could go to Republic and fly a 70+ seat aircraft for equal or less pay. Learning and flying the Dash8 for a year will make you a better pilot, no question. As for training, it is in house AQP at the US Airways training center in Charlotte.
P.S. The entire purpose of the seniority system and our CBAs is to make this profession a commodity.
