The reason would be solidarity, and you just can't have every single pilot paid differently. When it comes to contract negotiations, TA and finally ratification, you really need solidarity. Having pilots paid differently based on hours etc would certainly divide and conquer the group.
A better solution may be centered around all pilots finally sticking together to end this low starting and slow progression pay.
Thinking out loud here. What is there's a signing bonus at regional level that's based on previous experience?. Salary stays same for all new hires, and it will be up to company to determine level of bonus, not to exceed base second year pay. Now company can dictate if it is a pro-rated bonus based on 12 months of employment. There are lots of pros and cons floating around in my head right now, but I'd prefer to hear other's opinions. (BTW, should this catch on: this idea is trademarked by evilboy and his persona based on the personal information in APC's database about evilboy's identity............you never know!).
