We recently got an email from the union about the myth of jumpseats being included in the BOW:
"It is widely and mistakenly believed that jumpseat weight is included in the basic aircraft operating weight. This has not been correct for some time. What our contract does allow is for mainline jumpseaters to get precedence over cargo so that they cannot be denied jumpseat due to weight. This does not apply to non-mainline jumpseaters who can be denied due to weight restrictions."
