Oddly enough there is an earlier AD note on the 767 oxygen system lines similar to the 777 AD note. It is AD 2010-16-04 issued September 9, 2010 that also references an internal spring in the line shorting out. In this example only a small fire occurred (!) What is really strange is that the AD note gave the operator 36 months to inspect and determine the oxygen line part number, but if one of the affected numbers was found the line had to replaced "prior to further flight". So after the 767 exercise why is this type of line even on the 777?
