Dropping ML for a week, or a month is perfectly fine. You have to stay current, go to upgrade school, PME, etc. it usually doesn't even mean you going noncurrent at the airline.
This. Do what you need to for mission accomplishment, don't hesitate. That is not gaming the system.
Gaming the system is looking for years long military employment as an airline new hire for the sole purpose of avoiding dues paying.
But as far as regionals are concerned....screw em, game away. They're running their own game anyhow.
