I think that's a question you'd have to ask new hires, not guess at. For me, that would mean 70 miles less of a drive to their nearest current crew base - enough to make a difference. Of course, with their new commuter clause, I think it would mean less. I could always just show up the night before on the company dime.
I know quite a few people that live in Albany that work for my former airline that may think twice now about making the jump. Also at Colgan they had a pretty good crashpad setup in Albany, which Im sure was cheaper than a crash pad in IAD or EWR.
