I don't like the logic of that either, but that is the process we have and we ALL need to support it.
I don't do DPs and fully support the SIG. But I don't want to slam the newhires.
Give a guy $2000/month in training and he feels like he may need to make up a little pay the first few months out of training. I stand by my previous statement that you should work toward being gentle and friendly to the newhire, not harsh and confrontational. Try to explain and teach rather than judge, convict and verbally or otherwise punish.
I can't read you thru the internet, but if I could I sense you just want to be confrontational to the newhires. Welcoming them to the union in a more easy going fashion would go a long way in avoiding folks turning into non-members and selfish SOBs down the road.
Get mad at that if you will, it's not easy for those newhires. Yeah, I know you've been there and all that. It's easy to talk down to these guys, but not easy to be talked down to.
