Yeah they can will call you if the trip is 12 hours to report. It's not so bad now that it's 12 hours but it was horrible when it was just 9 hours. That was 9 hours to departure time on top of that.
Actually, little known fact but it was always 9 hours to report (not departure) but crew sched ignored the contract since they knew most people didn't know. If you demanded the contract, they had to either delay the flight or punt to a short call.
