Most Seven Twos have a "reverser operating" light which is really a reverser unlocked light. If you can move the thrust lever the checklist say to continue on. If the thrust lever slammed back and won't move you shut it down. I've had the light come on at rotation but since the thrust lever still moved we keep going. When we landed we found the bucket about a third deployed.

The checklist for recovering from an intentional deployment goes through a few steps to try to stow the reverser and if it won't stow you shut it down.
