I might be a part of the rare exception part but it's worked out very well for me. Left a pilot group shrinking like crazy at the end of 2013. I had been there 6 years and was bidding at 80% and the bottom of the list was moving my way. Now 7 months later I'm 70% up the list at my new company (moving up monthly) and 49% in my base. Sat 30 days of reserve total.
Now's the time. I'm not the only one. A bunch of other guys at my old airline did the same thing and are all VERY glad they did.
