Sometimes the airlines give us better rates for first than coach. Right now UAL is giving dirt cheap first class tickets out of DEN. If it's cheaper for first than coach, then you can book it even if it doesn't qualify.
Like Overnitefr8 said happens sometimes, DCA-MEM showed first class on AA cheaper than any economy seat on new FDX Deviation site. Being wary of the new PFC program, I called GT and they confirmed this was okay to book FC even though economy is warranted by CBA. Great service from GT and agent told me ticket will 'automatically' include explanation on receipt so one doesn't get bit by the expense report folks. We will see if an explanation is needed later....
