Default New ATP Requirements

Hi Guys,
Ive been looking at other threads about the new rules regarding getting a ATP certificate, and it sounds like if I take my written test before August I wont have to go through the long and arduous process that the FAA set up. My only concern with taking the written now is that I wont be 23 in 2 years time, ill only be 21. So, what should I do about this? Is it possible for me to get an R-ATP at 21 then move up to a standard atp at 23 without taking a CTP? Is there anyway for me to prolong my written or use an expired written? I was told that expired writtens were accepted by pilots working for part 135 carriers. The feedback is appreciated guys, thanks.
