I Agree with wannebepilot. I've been everywhere in the states and the place where I like the most is the SOUTH. I live in Mobile, ALABAMA and I just love it. It's a typical southern city, no too small not too big. People is really nice, very very friendly and laid back jaja. It's the perfect place to raise a family. The city is very quiet and you have wonderful beaches just 1 hour away. Besides the cost of living is really cheap. You can buy a really nice house for 150-200K in a nice quiet subdivison. (I'm still in the real estate bussines by the way) when you start making more money for 300-400K you can buy a big ass waterfront house!! Go and buy a waterfront property in FL..... Taxes for cars/houses are nothing. School system it's so so, but with the money you'll be saving in taxes and housing you can probably afford a private school (depending which one off course). Weather is gorgeous you get warm weather in march and not get any cold weather till mid-november.
This is an example of a southern city, I'm not saying you should move here, but I would really consider a mid-size city in the south. Louisiana is a really nice state too. I personally don't like florida for living, and I've been in every corner of it. It's really expensive, crowded and mostly I don't like the people, specially in Miami area.........
Many people underestimate the south, but QOL is great.
By the way here in Mobile there's a Cessna pilot center that is needing CFIs like crazy, they'll put you up flying 24-7 if you want to. I know the owner and is a nice environment to work, plus new well-maintained aircraft. Really proffesional people. If interested PM. GOOD LUCK !
