I agree 100%. That letter might make everyone feel good but its every man/group for himself. Everyone of those pilot groups is salivating over that ABX flying that they've been getting premium pay on for years. ABX might have had some leverage in 2010 but DHL is driving now.
I guarantee there are all kind of back room deals being made. ABX is the highest paid sub contractor with the lion's share of the work.
Nobody can stop DHL from seeking lower cost sub contractors.
Nobody can stop Atlas, Kalitta, Southern from trying to get new work.
ABX is getting ready to "Comair" themselves out of business.
The DHL 737's were already going to Southern before it was announced. And I'm sure the four 767's are going to a new low cost home. After all the 73's get online they won't need more 767's then DHL already owns. Hete is already planning for the post DHL days by dry leasing the remaining airplanes. ABX will go the way of Astar. DHL will have ABX keep a few spares around until they are no longer needed. I hope I'm wrong but the writing appears to be on the wall.
