LGB has been going so junior that new hires have been getting it right out of the gate....
But, you have to have 3+ years with the company to hold a just god awful uncommutable line with early starts, late finishes, min days off, and more 10 hr. double-redeye 3 days than you could ever want.
Reserve has gotten worse on the left coast... utilization is way up because of PEA '14/FAR 117. Plus it kinda stinks to commute into reserve.
That being said, I'm based at home for the first time in my career and can't complain, unless you count the above.
So.... come to LGB if you are junior to me. And tell all those senior pilots to stay away.
That also being said, all of the up and down and red-eye flying aside (Most left coast trips are RJ style 4 leg days or redeyes.) you miss most of the east coast WX events. During the polar vortex this year I was working on my house in 80 degree weather wishing that my AC was working.
