July mco
junior 320 FO line went to 2111. Junior man will be 2393
Senior guy is sept 03 hire junior is march 13
Junior Line for 190 FO went to 2294. Junior man is 2330
Senior guy is a February 07 hire junior is dec 12
I've noticed In The trough months it's not uncommon for the plug to hold a line in mco. RSV goes senior for the most part then trickles down to the bottom.

I'm guessing the junior guy on the Bus in MCO is gonna be there a while. I know there's at least 4 of us senior to him on the 190 that couldn't bid over because of our equipment lock. With the way things are looking MCO 320 is gonna be a tough nut to crack for a while, especially with all the below the red line stuff shifting to FLL.
I'm actually okay with indefinite reserve for now. Any line I could hold wouldn't be all that great, and reserve living in base isn't that bad. Sometimes the leash chafes a bit, but it's not terrible.

Phase II candidate here so I may be putting the cart before the horse. Anyway a couple questions. If hired I'm going to be commuting from MEM for the next 2 years. From what I have gathered, JFK is the better choice with multiple airports for jump seating therefore less chance of missing your reserve/trip time. After reading the forums it also appears the airbus is the best choice for a commuter because more days blocked together when assigned a trip. Are my conclusions correct? Please post or PM if you have other suggestions.

I did the MEM-JFK commute for about 9 months, and it's not the easiest one out there. I was still at Pinnacle at the time, so I wound up bidding my schedule around FedEx since it was the ONLY airline that flew non-stop from MEM-JFK. If I started or ended on a Sat or Sun, it was a cab/Airporter shuttle over to LGA to get home. With Delta basically turning MEM into an outstation, it may have gotten even more difficult. I have a friend that still does the MEM-JFK commute, and she has to two leg it a lot of the time. She also winds up going JFK-MCO at least once a month so she can crash at my place instead of in NY overnight since she missed the last MEM flight.

Bid the bus for all new hires , the last bid was way way way more slots for bus , 100 or so versus 11 in the 190. Zero growth on the 190 plenty on the bus . I think times are changing where the 190 was the way to go for new hires. Ask all these questions when you guys are told to bid during the beginning of your training .

Keep in mind that guys (like me) will be bidding off the 190 and over to the Bus when their equipment locks are up. It's been slow lately because 2 years ago we weren't hiring. The last system bid was the first one where guys hired 2 years ago could bid over to the Bus. Just because we aren't taking any more doesn't mean the music is going to stop on the 190. Someone that gets the Bus is training could find themselves getting leapfrogged a lot of a lot of guys take that option. I could actually hold a decent line on the Bus in JFK and BOS, and I'd be on the edge of reserve/holding a line in FLL. Not sure about LGB, but as junior as it's gone lately, it might be the same as FLL. If you're only making guarantee, it's around a $700/mo pay difference for guys who's equipment lock is just expiring. If you've got more longevity than that or you fly more than guarantee, that number goes up. Then you've still got 190 guys upgrading, too.

LGB has been going so junior that new hires have been getting it right out of the gate....
But, you have to have 3+ years with the company to hold a just god awful uncommutable line with early starts, late finishes, min days off, and more 10 hr. double-redeye 3 days than you could ever want.
Reserve has gotten worse on the left coast... utilization is way up because of PEA '14/FAR 117. Plus it kinda stinks to commute into reserve.
That being said, I'm based at home for the first time in my career and can't complain, unless you count the above.
So.... come to LGB if you are junior to me. And tell all those senior pilots to stay away.
That also being said, all of the up and down and red-eye flying aside (Most left coast trips are RJ style 4 leg days or redeyes.) you miss most of the east coast WX events. During the polar vortex this year I was working on my house in 80 degree weather wishing that my AC was working.
