Are you insinuating that if you haven't been hired at a major now, you've missed the boat? Or did you decide that you would only accept retiring in the top 100 somewhere? Got news for you; it's still possible.
You're horribly misinformed if you think that getting hired at any one of the majors in the next 5 years will equate to a bad career.

You're attitude is a dangerous one - deciding you no longer care about your career can lend itself to complacency. Have you looked into seeing a psychologist? You might be depressed.
